Gentlemen of the ton...prepared to be tempted.
Temptation is as old as Adam and Eve. Unfortunately, succumbing to it is as natural as breathing to the gentlemen in the haut ton. For prospective brides bent on fidelity, three of the ton’s most ravishing beauties will help determine the faithful from the philanderers. What they hadn’t counted on was emotional entanglements…
Rhys Wakefield, the Earl of Granville, wouldn’t understand the notion of fidelity if it bit him in the arse. Meghan Townsend can attest to this with all the assertion of a woman who has come under his molten gaze and survived the ordeal with her heart and virginity intact. When rumors begin to swirl that he is in search of a wife, Meghan can see no one more in need of her help than the too trusting young lady who is the current focus of his romantic interest.
After three failed attempts to lure the devilishly handsome lord into revealing his true colors, Meghan is still unconvinced that this particular rake has reformed. Resigned to the fact that getting the job done right means she must do it herself, Meghan presses her favorite gown and come hither smile into service, determined to prove her instincts. The task should be simple enough, after all he pursued her ardently once before.
But enticing Lord Granville proves an exercise in her self-control, for it is Meghan who finds she must rein in her physical desires and guard her heart against the man whose heart she’d unknowingly broken the year before.
The Temptresses Book 2
He proposed marriage to her once. She refused.
His next proposal won’t be quite as honorable.
“You needn’t fear you shall ever suffer another marriage proposal from me,” Rhys mildly rebuked her, wearing the ghost of a smile on his too-handsome face.
Meghan’s breath gathered and then collapsed in expulsion of air.
Ever? She didn’t take too kindly to that word in its current context.
But surely he could not mean it. They had—they had— Well surely she had given him every reason to believe she’d be amenable to another such proposal. She certainly wouldn’t refuse him this time.
Rhys arched an eyebrow and said wryly, “And I thought you knew me well enough to know that, once refused, I never issue an offer twice.”
Meghan sat frozen on the bed and watched in mortified disbelief as he shrugged into his shirt. A different kind of heat now suffused her entire person.
From her face, he lowered his gaze, slowly taking in her dishabille and declared softly, “No this time, I have something else entirely in mind.”
